Absa Bank Kenya honoured 48 women who graduated from the SheRise Rise Masterclass leadership programme in commemoration of International Women’s Day. Additionally, the Bank has recognised three exceptional leaders through the Women in Leadership Awards 2026, highlighting its continued investment in women and in workplace inclusion.

Led by renowned leadership coach, Dr. Patricia Murugami, the Rise Masterclass is a transformative leadership programme designed to empower women with the tools, confidence and mindset required to grow their personal and professional selves, developing skills needed to lead with purpose, influence and impact within their organisations and communities.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony, Absa Bank Kenya Chief People Officer said that this year’s theme “Give To Gain”, aligns with Absa Bank is committed to investing in the wholistic growth of women; whether spiritually, physically, mentally or financially.

“At Absa Bank, women empowerment and inclusion are not just corporate jargon. We actually set aside funds and develop systems that support women to thrive wholistically, anchored on our wellness agenda that supports work-life balance and mental health wellness,” said Ms. Mumbi.

Speaking at the same event, Absa Bank Kenya Chief Finance Officer Yusuf Omari noted that empowering women has a ripple effect to their families and communities.

“According to research, 90% of total revenue from women-led businesses are invested back to foster the advancement of their families and communities. That is why at Absa Bank, diversity and inclusion is at the centre of our strategy. Our scorecard speaks for itself with 52% female workforce, 45% of women in leadership positions and a 60-40 gender ratio at the Board level,” said Mr. Omari.

The event also recognised three exceptional women- Olive Moko – Pathmaker Award, Joyce Wanjiku – Leadership Legacy Award, and Jedidah Akinyi Rakwar – Rising Star Award (Under 30) through the Women in Leadership Awards 2026, celebrating women who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, resilience and commitment towards empowering others in and out of the workplace.
