Airtel Networks Kenya has introduced content offering via Airtel TV App which will be available on mobile phones and tablets, but only accessible use Airtel data network.
The launch makes Airtel the first telecommunications provider in Kenya to get into the TV space. The Airtel TV is available in both Google Play Store and Apple Store.
“Airtel TV has no monthly subscriptions and is accessible as long as you have data for streaming,” said Airtel Networks Kenya Ltd CEO Prasanta Das Sarma.
The Airtel TV app offers TV series and movies from Bollywood, Nollywood and Hollywood staples. Others TV content accessible on the App includes BBC, Nickelodeon and Universal.
This move will most likely trigger a swift action from Safaricom the leading home and business fibre connections with a countrywide data coverage.
Already, Safaricom offers Android Box that allows users to access a variety of TV content using any internet connection.
How to install Airtel TV app
- Go to Android store or iOS App store
- Search for Airtel TV
- Fill in the registration form with an Airtel phone number and email address.
- Insert the OTP (one time password) sent to your mobile phone to complete the registration.
