Guinness, the Official Beer of the Premier League, brought live football closer to fans on Sunday 25 January by hosting a Guinness Matchday experience at Al Capone on Thika Road, drawing a large turnout of supporters for a dramatic weekend of Premier League action.

The event coincided with a packed Sunday fixture list, keeping fans glued to the screens. Chelsea set the tone early with a commanding 3 to 1 away win over Crystal Palace in a London derby, before attention turned to the headline clash between Arsenal and Manchester United. The meeting between the long-time rivals lived up to expectations, ending in a 3-2 victory for Manchester United.

MC Lotan Salapei added to the atmosphere with live punditry, offering match analysis and crowd banter that helped lift the energy inside the venue as the tension on the pitch rose.

Fans followed every moment on large high definition screens with clear audio, creating a stadium like setting that captured key moments from crunching tackles to decisive goals.

“The energy at this Guinness Matchday has been phenomenal. I am in awe of the passion that has been exhibited by fans from both sides of the Arsenal versus Manchester United game. The fervour and energy displayed at Al Capone is the reason why Guinness Matchday exists, to bring together everyone who shares in our love for the beautiful game and perfectly chilled Guinness. We are grateful for the record attendance and will be hosting another spectacular matchday soon. We invite all our consumers to watch out for the details of where to catch the next Guinness Matchday,” said Joy Murugi, Brand Manager for Guinness.

Away from the action on the screens, fans enjoyed chilled Guinness while taking part in the Guinness Cleansheet challenge, which rewarded knowledge of the Premier League and added a competitive edge to the afternoon.

The Guinness Matchday series continues to grow in popularity, reflecting the strong following of the Premier League in Kenya. Organisers say more events are planned across the season as Guinness looks to enhance how fans experience English football beyond the traditional viewing setting.
