The KCSE was the fastest marked national examination in the history of Kenya. Education CS George Magoha had promised that the marking of the 2020 KCSE exam will be released by May 10.

Exam marking started immediately after end of exams on April 16th 2021. The process involved at least 27,284 examiners and was conducted in about 33 national schools distributed in the eight regions across the country.

Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) data show that 752,933 candidates were registered to sit this year’s KCSE exam in 10,437 centres.

Here is how to check and receive your KCSE result on your phone.

Students, parents, and guardians can check their results using SMS code 20076 and can be used across all Kenya networks

Simply send the index number to 20076 and wait for the result. The SMS costs KES 25.

Here is how to check on the KNEC website;

  1. Open www.knec.ac.ke
  2. Click on the Results tab
  3. Choose the year 2021
  4. Enter your index number
  5. Submit
  6. The next screen should show your results
