Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe says 124 people have tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample size of 2,060 tested in the last 24 hours. The positivity rate is now at 6.0pc.
In a statement Tuesday, Kagwe said from the cases 96 are Kenyans while 28 are foreigners. 68 are males while 56 are females. The youngest is a 2-month-old while the oldest is 98 years old.
Total confirmed positive cases are now 336,053 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 3,785,128.
In terms of County distribution Kagwe said Nairobi had 100 cases, Kiambu 11, Siaya 6, Nyeri 4, Kisumu, Laikipia and Mombasa 1 case each.
Distribution of positive cases by age is as follows; 0-9 years (6), 10-19 years (3), 20-29 years (21), 30-39 (42), 40-49 (17) 50-59 (17), 60 years and above (18).
Kagwe said 283 patients have recovered from the disease, 275 from the Home Based and Isolation Care Program while 8 are from various health facilities countrywide. This pushes the total recoveries to 328,567 of whom 275,216 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 53,351 are from various health facilities countrywide.
“Fortunately, no patient has succumbed to the disease therefore the cumulative fatalities remain 5,668,” said the CS.
Cumulative deaths by age; 0-9 years (62), 10-19 years (44), 20-29 (150), 30-39 years (411), 40-49 years (652), 50-59 years (1,029), 60 years and above (3,320).
The CS said there are 143 patients currently admitted in the health facilities, while 1,675 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program. 3 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), all of whom are on ventilatory support. Another 11 are in the General Wards and are all on supplemental oxygen. No patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
As of July 10th 2022, a total of 18,988,886 vaccines have been administered across the country. Of these, 16,858,610 are doses administered to the adult population (18 years and above).
Another 1,558,761 are doses administered to those between 15 to 17 years, 44,234 are below 15 years but above 12 years while 527,281 are booster doses.
The total number of vaccines administered in the last 24 hours is 4,626 while the total number of people fully vaccinated in the last 24 hours is 2,085. Proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 32.1%. The Government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033.
