Mercedes-Benz has celebrated 140 years of global automotive innovation with an exclusive event hosted by CFAO Mobility Kenya at the Muthaiga Golf & Country Club, where the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class was unveiled.

The event brought together German Ambassador to Kenya Sebastian Groth, Mercedes-Benz customers, business leaders, partners and automotive enthusiasts.

The celebration formed part of the global “140 Years. 140 Places” campaign, which commemorates the brand’s history since Carl Benz patented the Motorwagen in 1886. As part of the campaign, three S-Class saloons are travelling more than 60,000 kilometres across six continents and visiting 140 locations associated with Mercedes-Benz’s heritage and international presence.

Kenya is among the featured destinations, underscoring its importance as an East African centre for commerce, innovation and entrepreneurship. The expedition began in Stuttgart, Germany, and is expected to return there in October 2026.

“Tonight is not simply about celebrating a number; it is about celebrating legacy,” said CFAO Mobility Kenya Managing Director Arvinder Reel. “A legacy that began in 1886, when Carl Benz patented the Motorwagen and fundamentally changed the way the world moves.”

The occasion also highlighted Mercedes-Benz’s long-standing presence in Kenya. CFAO Mobility Kenya’s predecessor, DT Dobie, began representing the German automotive brand in the country in 1949. DT Dobie and CFAO Motors, formerly Toyota Kenya, were integrated under CFAO Mobility Kenya Limited in 2023.

The evening’s centrepiece was the unveiling of the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the marque’s flagship luxury saloon. The model combines advanced technology, craftsmanship, comfort and personalised features, continuing its traditional role as a platform for innovations that later influence the wider automotive industry.

Mercedes-Benz General Manager Idrissa Diagne said the authorised distributor would continue introducing advancements in safety, performance, connectivity and luxury while improving the ownership experience for Kenyan customers.

CFAO Mobility Kenya currently offers Mercedes-Benz saloons, SUVs and vans, including the C-Class, E-Class and S-Class; the GLC, GLE, GLS and G-Class; and the Vito, V-Class and Sprinter.
