OPPO Kenya has announced a strategic partnership with MOGO Kenya to introduce flexible “lipa mdogo mdogo” smartphone financing options across the country, a move aimed at accelerating digital inclusion and expanding access to innovative mobile technology.

The collaboration will enable customers to acquire OPPO smartphones through structured installment plans powered by MOGO’s mobile financing model. The initiative is designed to ease the burden of upfront payments, allowing more Kenyans to own reliable, high-quality devices while aligning repayments with their income cycles.

As smartphones increasingly serve as essential tools for communication, business, education and content creation, affordability remains a key barrier for many consumers. By integrating MOGO’s financing solutions into OPPO Kenya’s retail network, customers can walk into participating stores nationwide and access transparent, manageable payment plans.

The partnership supports three core objectives: driving digital inclusion by expanding smartphone access to underserved and price-sensitive segments; democratizing OPPO’s advanced technology features to a broader market; and advancing a shared vision of innovation and technology empowerment.

Kenya has over 42 million smartphone users, with demand continuing to rise as mobile connectivity becomes central to everyday life and economic activity. Industry players note that flexible financing models are becoming increasingly critical in bridging the affordability gap, particularly amid rising device prices in recent years.

Fredrique Achieng, PR Manager at OPPO Kenya, said the company’s mission goes beyond delivering innovative devices.

“At OPPO Kenya, our commitment is to ensure that more Kenyans can access and benefit from the opportunities digital connectivity provides. Partnering with MOGO allows us to remove affordability barriers and extend the reach of OPPO technology to customers who may otherwise delay or forgo smartphone ownership. This collaboration reinforces our long-term commitment to digital inclusion and empowering individuals, entrepreneurs and communities across Kenya,” she said.

Fred Muoka, Head of Sales – Device Financing at MOGO Kenya, noted that smartphones have become indispensable tools for everyday business.

“From mobile money and online selling to content creation and customer engagement, millions of Kenyans depend on their phones to earn a living. Yet affordability remains a major barrier, especially as device prices have risen in recent years. Flexible ‘lipa mdogo mdogo’ financing models are therefore critical. Through our partnership with OPPO, we are making quality smartphones more accessible and supporting greater economic participation across the country,” he said.

Beyond improving consumer access, the partnership is also expected to strengthen OPPO’s retail ecosystem by driving higher store traffic, improving conversion rates and fostering deeper customer relationships among buyers seeking structured payment solutions.

The rollout positions both brands at the forefront of Kenya’s expanding digital economy, with a shared ambition to widen technology access and support inclusive growth nationwide.
