Whether you were one of the fans from all over Nairobi who headed to Blankets and Wine at the Laureate Garden on Sunday, or you’re suffering from a case of serious FOMO, Spotify has just the thing for you, with four iconic Kenyan playlists to help you relive the fun.
On Sunday 2 July, Blankets and Wine brought together a crowd who came to enjoy the music, food, and atmosphere. Between the delicious food, the arts, crafts and fashion vendors and the music, the experience was truly made-in-Kenya.
As part of their partnership at the event, and their commitment to supporting artists in Kenya, Spotify has created a Made-in-Kenya destination which hosts four playlists that tie into the Blankets and Wine event and lineup. Each playlist cover has also been updated to showcase artists from the festival lineup.
- Nairobae
If you were among those who were on their feet dancing and singing along when Maya Amolo opened the event, then this is the playlist for you. It combines the best of Kenya’s smooth R&B from artists including Xenia Manasseh, Nikita Kering’ and Brandy Maina who also captivated audiences on the day.
- Kenya Gold
The best of Kenya’s old school jams all wrapped up in one nostalgic walk down memory lane, this playlist is for those who came out to catch Nameless but ended up dancing the night away. It features artists like Flexx, Kantai, Big Pin and many more.
Bensoul, who covers this playlist, had the crowd electrified during their performance at the event. If you’re kicking yourself for missing out, check out City Express, which features several Bensoul tracks, mixed in with other Afro-fusion bangers by among others, Coster Ojwang who was also on the lineup.
- 245 Flow
If beats, bars and rhymes are more your flow, 245 has got you covered. Featuring Khaligraph Jones, FEMI ONE, and BURUKLYN BOYZ it’s a guaranteed good time, even if you didn’t make it to Blankets and Wine.
Commenting on the partnership between Spotify and Blankets and Wine, Monica Kemoli-Savanne, Artist & Label Partnerships Manager, Spotify Africa said: “Spotify is committed to supporting local artists find audiences at home and abroad so this partnership was the perfect opportunity to showcase the best of Kenya both at the event and on-platform.”
