Absa Bank Kenya has announced the first winner in its “Change Your Story” card campaign, a strategic initiative designed to promote digital banking and card payment adoption across Kenya. The campaign, which commenced in mid-September and will conclude on 31 December 2024, offers customers the chance to win KES 1 million, in addition to other rewards, for embracing digital banking solutions and completing qualifying transactions.

Dr. Vincent Masawi, a loyal Absa customer for 34 years, was awarded KES 1 million at an event held at Absa’s Sarit Centre branch. Dr. Masawi, who opened his account with Absa’s Waiyaki Way branch in 1990, expressed gratitude to the bank for its continued support throughout his financial journey.

Reflecting on his journey, Dr. Masawi shared, “I was very happy when I received the call that I would be awarded as the first winner. Absa Bank Kenya has been a worthy financial partner in my journey for the last 34 years, and I have been able to grow my business and educate my children with their support.”

Dr. Masawi runs a company that supplies dairy equipment and provides consultation on dairy animal management. He plans to reinvest part of his winnings into his business and support his youngest son, who is nearing university graduation. True to his faith, Dr. Masawi also intends to donate 10 per cent of his prize to his rural church as a tithe.

To secure a million from Absa Bank Kenya in the ongoing “Change Your Story” campaign, you must embrace the power of digital transactions and actively use your card in line with Absa’s vision for a digital-first future. The campaign, which began in September and will run until 31st December 2024, provides numerous pathways to win, from simple digital payments to more substantial banking engagements.

The process is straightforward. To become eligible, follow these steps:

  1. Make Card Payments of at Least KES 1,000: Start by using your Absa debit or credit card for transactions that are KES 1,000 or more, whether at a point of sale or via digital platforms. Each transaction of this amount brings you closer to potential rewards and entry into the monthly draw.
  2. Open or Register an Absa Account or Card: Newcomers are not left out. By simply creating an account with Absa or registering for an Absa card, you automatically qualify for the campaign. Absa is making this opportunity inclusive, so both current customers and non-customers can benefit.
  3. Deposit a Minimum of KES 10,000: Regularly deposit at least KES 10,000 into your Absa savings or current account to demonstrate your commitment to savings. Financial discipline is highly valued by the bank, and this consistent act can make you eligible for the campaign’s grand rewards.
  4. Complete Five Digital Transactions Weekly: Embrace digital banking by performing at least five digital transactions per week, be it through mobile banking, the Absa app, or other digital payment platforms. This habit reinforces Absa’s goal of making digital banking second nature for its users.
