Samsung has begun rolling out One UI 9 to more Galaxy smartphones, starting with the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The software update, which first debuted on the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8 and Flip8, brings a wider range of Galaxy AI tools, camera improvements, security features and productivity upgrades to Samsung’s flagship smartphone users.
Among the standout additions is My FanCam, a feature that automatically tracks a selected person in recorded video and keeps them centred as they move.
The tool is designed to reduce the amount of manual editing required when capturing fast-moving moments such as performances, sporting events or social occasions.
Samsung has also expanded the capabilities of Now Brief, which can now include generative and editable cards covering areas such as health, weather and video.
Users can customise the cards appearing in their daily summaries depending on the information they want to see.
Another major addition is Warranty and Care, which brings device support information directly into the Settings menu.
Users can check warranty coverage for connected devices, run diagnostics, view repair estimates, manage Samsung Care+ and book service appointments from their phones.
More context-aware Galaxy AI features
One UI 9 also introduces improvements aimed at reducing the number of steps users need to complete everyday tasks.
The new Now Nudge feature provides context-aware suggestions depending on what a user is doing.
For example, while discussing plans through text messages, the phone may suggest pulling up reservation information or saving a location shared in the conversation without requiring the user to switch between applications.
Samsung has also upgraded Creative Studio to suggest image-generation ideas based on upcoming events.
A user approaching a friend’s birthday, for instance, could receive a suggestion to create a personalised image or greeting.
The Interpreter feature has also received a Thread View that allows users to refer back to earlier translated conversations.
Samsung says translation in Conversation Mode has also been improved, alongside faster playback when compatible Galaxy Buds are being used.
Better document scanning and voice summaries
Samsung has improved its Document Scan functionality to deal with more difficult documents, including curved book pages and folded papers.
The update also introduces improved viewing on compatible large-screen Galaxy devices and enhancements to the Finger Eraser tool, which can help clean up scanned documents.
Voice Recorder summaries have also been redesigned to make information easier to review.
Instead of displaying summaries largely as continuous text, One UI 9 can organise information using elements such as headings and tables.
Samsung adds more security and privacy controls
Security and privacy are another major focus of the update.
A new Security Brief brings security alerts into Now Brief, including warnings relating to malware, applications installed from unknown sources and apps with unnecessary permissions.
Samsung has also introduced Privacy Alerts, which use on-device AI to identify potentially unnecessary attempts by applications to access permissions in the background.
The feature is intended to give users more visibility into how applications are accessing their information.
Samsung is also expanding its Scam Detection functionality to more countries and languages, extending protection against suspected scam calls to additional supported markets.
The One UI 9 rollout forms part of Samsung’s wider push to integrate AI more deeply into everyday Galaxy smartphone functions, moving beyond standalone AI tools towards features that operate in the background while users communicate, create content and manage their devices.
