Through the partnership, Spotify will create a dedicated Afro Nation destination on its platform, where fans will access festival content, featured artists, the official playlist and selected performance videos after the event.

The collaboration is expected to extend the Afro Nation experience beyond the live festival weekend, allowing fans across the world to follow the energy of the event even if they are not in Portugal.

Afro Nation has grown into one of the biggest global platforms for African music, connecting artists, fans and culture across continents. The festival has also played a key role in supporting artist breakthroughs and giving African music a global stage.

Speaking on the partnership, Rifumo Mdaka, Spotify’s Content Marketing Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa, said the collaboration will help the festival travel further through streaming.

“Afro Nation is more than a festival — it’s a global expression of African music, fan culture and creative influence,” Mdaka said.

“Our partnership is about helping that moment travel further through our first collaboration with Afro Nation of this nature. By bringing the festival to Spotify, we’re giving fans a place to connect with the artists, performances and stories that define the festival, long after the final set,” he added.

As part of the campaign, Spotify will also follow the journey of a top fan travelling to Afro Nation Portugal, capturing the excitement and cross-border connection that continues to power African music’s global growth.

Clémence Blum, Director of Global Partnerships at The Malachite Group/Afro Nation, said the partnership marks a major step in expanding the festival’s impact.

“Afro Nation has always been more than a festival. It is a platform built to celebrate African music, support artist breakthroughs and connect a global community through culture,” Blum stated.

“Our partnership with Spotify is a significant moment for us because it reflects the shared role we both play in discovery, helping artists reach new audiences and giving fans deeper ways to engage with the music they love,” she added.

According to Afro Nation’s official website, the 2026 edition will run from July 3 to July 5 in Portugal, with the festival positioning itself as a celebration of African music, food, art and culture.

Selected performance content from Afro Nation Portugal will be made available on Spotify after the festival.

Fans have been encouraged to follow the official Afro Nation playlist and visit the dedicated Afro Nation destination on Spotify for updates, artist discovery and festival content.
