The global Internet Computer community is gearing up for the 2025 World Computer Summit, scheduled for 3 June in Zurich. This landmark event marks the fourth anniversary of the Internet Computer Protocol (ICP), spotlighting its rapid evolution from an experimental blockchain to a robust, decentralised digital ecosystem.
Held under the ambitious theme “Reimagining the Internet for a Decentralised World,” the summit promises to explore how emerging technologies—AI, Web3, and the Self-Writing Internet—can radically reshape digital infrastructure and society.
The Internet Computer, brainchild of blockchain visionary Dominic Williams, now hosts over 500 projects including decentralised finance platforms, social media, NFT solutions, and tools for tokenising real-world assets. The summit will celebrate these achievements and look to the future of a “World Computer” where services run entirely on smart contracts without traditional IT infrastructure.
Williams’s original vision, first shared in a 2021 tweet, continues to inspire developers and technologists worldwide: “Once I heard the words ‘World Computer’, I wasn’t able to think about much else. It had to be realized.”
The 2025 summit is structured around two key stages:
- The World Computer Stage: Featuring keynote talks and panels that examine the societal, economic, and philosophical impact of a decentralised internet.
- The Ecosystem Stage: A showcase of real-world ICP-powered innovations, including product demos, startup pitches, and deep-dive technical sessions.
Highlights include:
- “The Age of Digital Colonialism” – An opening address tackling the intersection of technology, geopolitics, and global power.
- “Democratizing Tech: Realising the Vision of the World Computer” – A timely discussion on restoring digital agency through decentralisation.
- ICP Ecosystem Pitches – Presentations by startup founders pioneering everything from DePIN (Decentralised Physical Infrastructure) to sovereign AI.
Importantly, African innovation will be well represented through multiple ICP Hubs from across the continent, reflecting the summit’s global outlook and inclusive ethos.
