TikTok has removed a staggering 884,591 videos posted in Kenya in just three months for violating its Community Guidelines.

According to the platform’s Q1 2026 Community Guidelines Enforcement Report, an impressive 99.7 per cent of the videos were detected and deleted before any user reported them.

TikTok also revealed that 96.3 per cent of the offending videos were taken down within 24 hours of being uploaded, showing just how fast the platform is moving to stop harmful content from spreading.

And it was not only videos that faced the axe.

The social media giant also removed 48,739 accounts in Kenya suspected of belonging to children below the age of 13, as the platform steps up efforts to protect younger users online.

Over 100,000 Kenyan TikTok LIVE sessions interrupted

TikTok’s crackdown also extended to LIVE broadcasts, with the platform interrupting 103,847 LIVE rooms in Kenya for violating its rules.

Globally, warnings, demonetisation and other enforcement actions were taken against more than 58 million LIVE sessions and nearly 22 million creators over breaches of TikTok’s LIVE monetisation guidelines.

The warnings are meant to educate creators whose content may violate monetisation policies and allow them to make changes before tougher action is taken.

TikTok turns attention to harmful AI content

With artificial intelligence-generated videos becoming increasingly common, TikTok says it is also strengthening its fight against misleading and harmful AI content.

During the first quarter of 2026, the platform removed 14,261 videos globally for violating its edited media and AI-generated content policies.

TikTok requires creators to label realistic AI-generated content and uses automated systems to detect such videos. The platform says its efforts have helped label more than three billion videos so far.

Globally, TikTok removed more than 184 million videos during the quarter, representing approximately 0.5 per cent of all content uploaded to the platform.

Of these, more than 178 million were detected using automated technology, while about 8.8 million videos were later reinstated following further review.

TikTok says it will continue combining automated moderation technology with thousands of safety professionals to tackle misinformation, hate speech and other harmful content on the platform.
