Airtel Money customers can now make direct payments to DTB Till Moja merchants, following a new partnership that aims to give Small and Medium sized Enterprises greater flexibility in how they receive payments. The collaboration expands digital payment options for businesses and strengthens efforts to support a more inclusive financial ecosystem in Kenya.

The agreement also allows customers to deposit funds directly from their Airtel Money wallets into their DTB bank accounts. This development enables customers to send money, pay bills and manage their finances more easily and securely from their mobile phones without visiting a bank branch or payment outlet. In addition, users will receive a 50 percent guaranteed cashback as airtime on all Paybill payments.

Airtel Money Kenya Managing Director Anne Kinuthia Otieno said the move reinforces the company’s commitment to strengthening the flow of money across the country’s financial system. She said that while customers have been able to send funds to DTB accounts in the past, extending that convenience to Till Moja merchants brings added value to both customers and small businesses.

She noted that removing barriers to financial inclusion is central to the company’s strategy. She said that by making transactions faster, simpler and safer, Airtel Money is contributing to a more inclusive digital economy where customers and SMEs can transact affordably and securely.

The collaboration is expected to provide more flexible and affordable ways for customers to save and transact, particularly those in rural and underserved communities who rely on mobile money for everyday financial activities. The companies said that by lowering costs and simplifying access to financial services, the partnership will help address longstanding challenges that limit financial access.

DTB Director of Retail Banking George Otiende said the partnership aligns with the bank’s goal of providing customers with multiple payment options that meet their daily needs. He said it will make banking more inclusive and accessible, especially for SMEs and individuals who depend on mobile money for convenience.

Customers can deposit funds into any DTB account or pay DTB Till Moja merchants through the Airtel Money App or by dialling *334#.
