I&M Bank is expanding its footprint with nine new branches across Kenya in 2026, reinforcing its commitment to financial inclusion through the ‘Mahali Uko, Tuko’ campaign. The ambitious expansion strategy reinforces the bank’s commitment to bringing financial services closer to communities in high potential growth areas.

The rollout includes branches in Ngong Town, Kitengela, Nyahururu, Kitui, Homabay, Migori, Wote, Our Mall-Magadi Road, and Utawala, regions characterized by dynamic economic activity in agribusiness, real estate development, MSME and educational institutions.

“Our ‘Mahali Uko, Tuko’ campaign embodies our vision of being truly present in the communities we serve. These nine branches represent more than physical infrastructure, they are community hubs designed to drive financial inclusion, support local enterprises, and empower both individual customers and businesses. We are strategically positioning ourselves in areas with significant agricultural value chains, burgeoning real estate markets, and underserved populations ready to unlock their economic potential.” said Kihara Maina, Regional CEO, I&M Bank.

With branches in Ngong, Nyahururu, Kitui, Homa Bay, and Migori, I&M Bank is strategically deepening its presence in Kenya’s agricultural backbone. These regions, known for livestock farming, fish farming, and diverse agricultural production, will benefit from tailored financial solutions including agricultural financing, value chain support, and SACCO partnerships.

The Kitengela, Our Mall and Utawala branches target rapidly expanding residential and commercial zones along major transport corridors, serving property developers, land investors, and the thriving business community and growing a middle-class population. In addition, these areas present opportunities to serve the youth demographic with innovating banking solutions and digital services due to the numerous colleges and learning institutions present.

The new branches are designed as comprehensive service centers offering:

  • Full-service banking with extended operating hours
  • Business banking facilities for SMEs and agricultural enterprises
  • Digital banking support and customer education
  • Community engagement programs focused on financial literacy
  • Dedicated relationship managers for personalized service
  • Community led initiatives through the I&M Foundation

“We understand that modern banking is about proximity and accessibility. While digital channels are important, our research shows that customers still value the assurance and personal touch that comes with a physical branch presence, especially for significant financial decisions such as business loans, agricultural financing, and property investment. These branches will seamlessly blend digital convenience with human connection, ensuring we serve the unique needs of each community,” added Kihara Maina.

I&M Bank will integrate into these communities through on ground activations, social engagement initiatives, and corporate social responsibility programs that create meaningful touchpoints with residents.

In 2025 the bank opened 11 new branches, growing from 52 to 65 outlets across 27 counties. The additional nine branches will push the network toward the bank’s target of 80 branches by end of 2026, reflecting its commitment towards achieving presence across all 47 counties and bringing financial services closer to high-potential agribusiness, real estate, and MSME markets.
