By supporting newly opened branches, the Foundation aims to create immediate, sustainable impact through projects specifically identified by branch staff as high-impact and easy to execute in the local communities. The initiative is designed to strengthen local relationships and embed a culture of social responsibility across the I&M Bank network.

“I&M Foundation has a longstanding commitment to making a positive impact in the communities it serves. Over the past five years, the Foundation has dedicated its resources to various community development initiatives, and this Christmas, we are bringing festive cheer to our customers and to Kenyans across the country. The ‘A Time to Give‘ initiative allows our teams at the branch level to directly address local needs, from providing clean water and solar energy to improving welfare in prisons and schools, demonstrating our continued commitment to sustainable community development”, said Dipna Shah, Sustainability Lead, I&M Bank.

Some of the initiative Highlights:

  • Busia Prison: Provision of 720 mattresses, blankets, and footwear to improve inmate hygiene and welfare
  • Watamu (Gede Special School): Donation of 25 wheelchairs and specialized furniture to support persons with disabilities.
  • Clean Water & Energy: 10,000-liter water tank installations in Gikomba and Meru, a water harvesting project in Embu, and a solar backup system for Joy Children’s Home in Mwea.
  • Financial Literacy Sessions: Tatu City Branch team conducted a practical financial education session covering savings, budgeting, and basic investment planning for women in business community in partnership with Ren Women Tatu City. This was followed by an interactive forum where participants shared experiences, exchanged income-generating ideas, and received guidance from the Bank team.

The initiative also includes “Christmas lunch” events and dry food donations to children’s homes, homes for the elderly, and special schools in regions including Eastleigh, Tatu City, and Kawangware. The Foundation will continue spreading the Christmas spirit into next year, by supporting the underprivileged and uplifting communities where they operate.

Through these efforts, the I&M Foundation expects to deliver improved community well-being and foster deeper engagement between branch staff and local communities during the festive season.
