Kenya is set to strengthen its position as one of Africa’s leading culinary tourism destinations following a strategic partnership between the Kenya Tourism Board and EatOut Africa.
The collaboration aims to promote Kenya’s diverse food culture, enhance visitor experiences, and make the country’s culinary offering more accessible to both local and international travellers through digital platforms.
As global travellers increasingly seek authentic, immersive, and experience-led journeys, the partnership is expected to place Kenyan cuisine, farm-to-table experiences, street food, and premium dining at the centre of the Magical Kenya tourism experience.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Kenya Tourism Board CEO June Chepkemei said the partnership reflects the changing way modern travellers plan and experience destinations.
“As a destination, we have been intentionally expanding the Magical Kenya experience beyond traditional tourism offerings by integrating culture, creativity, wellness, adventure, and now culinary discovery into our destination identity,” said Chepkemei.
She noted that today’s travellers often research restaurants, reviews, experiences, and destination content online before making travel decisions, making digital discovery a critical part of tourism marketing.
The Kenya Tourism Board has been intensifying its focus on improving customer experience in an increasingly digital travel environment. Through this partnership, KTB and EatOut Africa will work to connect travellers with curated culinary experiences across the country.
Showcasing Kenya’s Farm-to-Table Tourism Potential
A key focus of the partnership will be promoting Kenya’s agricultural heritage through food and beverage experiences such as tea farm tours, coffee roastery visits, and culinary storytelling.
Chepkemei said modern travellers want more than a restaurant booking; they want to understand the story behind the food they consume.
“Modern travellers want more than just a seat at a restaurant; they want to know the story behind their food. By partnering with EatOut, we are moving beyond traditional dining to highlight our incredible farm-to-table journey,” she said.
Kenya is globally recognised for its tea and coffee exports, and the partnership is expected to help turn these products into immersive tourism experiences. Visitors will be able to explore the origins of Kenyan tea and coffee while connecting with producers, chefs, and local communities.
EatOut Africa to Support Digital Discovery of Kenyan Food Experiences
EatOut Africa is one of Kenya’s leading food-tech and hospitality platforms, connecting diners with restaurants, hospitality venues, and curated culinary experiences.
Through the partnership, EatOut Africa will help expand access to unique food experiences beyond traditional restaurant listings. These will include chef’s table experiences, interactive cooking classes, educational culinary sessions, and guided street food tours.
EatOut Africa General Manager Lorenze said the partnership would create new opportunities for Kenya’s tourism and hospitality sectors.
“We currently work with some of the best restaurants in Nairobi, and over the years our platform has been used by millions of diners to discover and book restaurants across the city,” said Lorenze. “This partnership with the Kenya Tourism Board will allow us to extend our products to operators offering unique culinary experiences while showcasing the very best of Kenya’s growing food scene.”
Culinary Experiences to Include Nairobi, Mombasa and Beyond
The partnership will promote a wide range of authentic Kenyan culinary experiences, including Swahili cuisine classes, contemporary Kenyan cooking sessions, Nairobi street food tours, tea and coffee experiences, and exclusive chef-led dining events.
Curated culinary adventures will also include picnics at Nairobi National Park and Tamarind Dhow dinners in Mombasa, giving travellers an opportunity to experience Kenya’s food culture alongside its iconic landscapes and coastal heritage.
By combining food discovery with digital tools, the initiative is expected to make Kenya’s gastronomy offering more structured, searchable, and accessible to travellers planning trips online.
Positioning Kenya as a Leading Gastronomy Destination in Africa
Culinary tourism continues to grow globally as travellers seek meaningful connections with local culture through food. Kenya’s diverse culinary landscape, from coastal Swahili flavours to Nairobi’s vibrant restaurant scene and farm-based food experiences, offers a strong foundation for growth in this segment.
The partnership between the Kenya Tourism Board and EatOut Africa is expected to support Kenya’s wider tourism strategy by expanding the Magical Kenya brand beyond wildlife, beaches, and adventure tourism.
Authentic culinary experiences under the partnership will be available to both domestic and international tourists through taste.magicalkenya.com.
As Kenya continues to diversify its tourism offering, the collaboration marks a significant step in positioning the country as a must-visit destination for food lovers, cultural explorers, and experience-driven travellers.
