Old Mutual has introduced Lady Anchor, a new insurance and investment package designed specifically for Kenyan women. The offering combines health, life, and general insurance with the option to include investments, and is supported by financial education and wellness resources.

Speaking at the launch, Old Mutual Group CEO Arthur Oginga described Lady Anchor as “a strategic commitment to close the gender protection gap” and to support women at every stage of life.

The product responds to findings from the 2024 Old Mutual Financial Services Monitor, which show that 46 percent of women face high financial stress, with over half saying it affects their health. More than half also belong to the “sandwich generation”, supporting both children and elderly relatives.

Lady Anchor offers flexible cover that women can customise to their needs. It includes unique benefits such as HPV and travel vaccines, hormone replacement therapy, emergency rescue services for motor cover, and protection for domestic workers and family members. Women can start with health or motor insurance and add options like critical illness cover, home insurance, travel protection, or a Money Market Fund investment.

Old Mutual plans to partner with women-led organisations, SACCOs, and cooperatives to expand access, while ensuring gender equity remains central to its innovation and service delivery.

“Lady Anchor is not just about insurance, it is about meeting women where they are, in all their roles as caregivers, professionals, entrepreneurs, and protectors,” said Carol Misiko, Old Mutual’s Sustainability, Risk and Compliance Executive.
