I recently had the opportunity to get my hands on the Redmi Note 12S, and I must say, it’s an impressive mid-range smartphone that offers great value for money. The device boasts a range of features that make it a strong contender in its price segment. Watch the unboxing video here.

Design and Display:

The Redmi Note 12S features a sleek and modern design that instantly catches the eye. Its slim profile, measuring 159.87mm x 73.87mm x 8.09mm, feels comfortable to hold and use. The device weighs in at 176g, making it light enough for extended usage without causing any strain. What truly stands out is the 6.43-inch FHD+ AMOLED DotDisplay. The screen offers a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels, providing sharp visuals with excellent color reproduction. The display supports a refresh rate of up to 90Hz, resulting in smooth and fluid animations. Whether you’re browsing the web, watching videos, or playing games, the Redmi Note 12S offers an immersive visual experience.

Camera:

The Redmi Note 12S packs an AI triple rear camera setup that aims to deliver impressive photography capabilities. The star of the show is the 108MP main camera, which captures highly detailed and vibrant images. Thanks to its 0.7μm pixel size and 9-in-1 Super Pixel technology, the camera excels in low-light conditions by combining multiple pixels to enhance light sensitivity. With a wide aperture of f/1.89, you can expect pleasing depth-of-field effects and good low-light performance.

Complementing the main camera is an 8MP ultra-wide camera with a 118° field of view. This lens allows you to capture expansive landscapes and group shots with ease. Additionally, a 2MP macro camera lets you get up close and personal with your subjects, capturing intricate details. On the front, the 16MP camera takes decent selfies, ensuring you look your best in your self-portraits.

Performance:

Under the hood, the Redmi Note 12S is powered by the MediaTek Helio G96 chipset, an octa-core CPU clocked at up to 2.05GHz. Paired with the ARM Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, this configuration delivers smooth performance for everyday tasks, such as browsing, social media, and multimedia consumption. While it may not be the most powerful chipset in its class, the Redmi Note 12S provides a reliable and lag-free experience.

The device comes in two RAM and storage configurations: 6GB of RAM with 128GB of storage or 8GB of RAM with 256GB of storage. The LPDDR4X RAM ensures efficient multitasking, allowing you to switch between apps seamlessly. With UFS 2.2 storage, you can expect faster app launches and quicker file transfers.

Battery and Charging:

Keeping the Redmi Note 12S running is a sizable 5,000mAh battery. This substantial capacity ensures that you can go through a full day of usage without worrying about running out of power. Additionally, the device supports 33W fast charging, which enables you to quickly top up the battery when needed. The included 33W in-box charger ensures fast and convenient charging, minimizing downtime.
