Send App by Flutterwave today announced the launch of the Send App Travel Card, a new physical Naira card designed for Nigerians in the diaspora returning home for the festive season. Built in partnership with technology partner, Odysy and powered by the AfriGO network, the National domestic card. The card eliminates long-standing spending challenges faced by travelers, offering a seamless, reliable, and secure way to pay across Nigeria.

Each December, thousands of Nigerians travel home for reunions, holidays, and celebrations. Yet they often encounter cash limitations, unpredictable exchange rates, foreign card failures, and acceptance issues. The Send App Travel Card solves these frustrations by enabling customers abroad to pre-order the card, pay for it directly in Send App, have it delivered ahead of their arrival, and begin spending instantly across POS terminals, ATMs, and contactless systems nationwide. Customers can fund the card directly from their UK, US, or EU cards within SendApp money remittances platform ensuring a familiar, frictionless experience from the moment they land.

In Nigeria, Send App is powered by Flutterwave Tech Payment Limited’s approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to operate as an International Money Transfer Operator (IMTO). This licence ensures that all Send App remittance flows into Nigeria are fully compliant, secure, and aligned with the regulatory framework governing international money transfers.

The Send App Travel Card represents the natural evolution of our mission to bridge financial distance, providing the diaspora with a secure, convenient new channel for remittance delivery. With this launch, Send App by Flutterwave is giving Nigerians abroad the ability not just to support life back home, but to fully participate in it when they return, with the same ease, control, and convenience they enjoy overseas.

Commenting on the launch, Harvey Bahia, Head, Send App Business, Flutterwave, said, “The Travel Card is a major step forward for Send App. For years, we’ve helped Nigerians abroad support life at home through fast, reliable remittances. Now, for the first time, we’re giving them a physical way to spend with the same ease and control when they return. It’s a significant milestone in making Send App the most complete financial companion for the diaspora.”

“Partnering with Send App on the Travel Card aligns perfectly with our mission to make travel spending seamless, reliable, and accessible,”said Chinonso Nwosu, CEO of Odysy. “Nigerians in the diaspora deserve a dependable way to spend locally, and together with AfriGO, we’ve built a product that works effortlessly across the country.”

Ebehijie Juliet Momoh, Managing Director/CEO of AfriGO, added: “We are delighted that AfriGO is the preferred domestic card scheme powering the Send App Travel Card. By enabling a payment solution designed in Nigeria, for Nigeria, this partnership reinforces our commitment to customer-focused innovation and product development. AfriGO ensures secure Naira-denominated transactions, local data control, instant merchant settlements and broad acceptance – even in low-connectivity environments making it the right fit for Nigerians home and abroad.”

The Send App Travel Card is ready within 24 hours of ordering and available for same-day delivery in Lagos and Abuja for orders placed before 4 PM. Customers can lock, freeze, or replace their cards directly within the app, and no ATM activation is required; spending can begin the moment the card arrives. To get started, customers simply update their Send App from the App Store or Play Store to get the Travel Card feature, open Send App, tap the Card icon on their top left-hand corner, enter all the required details to obtain their card.
