The Science for Africa Foundation (SFA Foundation) has partnered with SemaBox Africa to launch Echoes of Evidence, a new podcast designed to bring evidence-based science knowledge into everyday public spaces across the continent.
Hosted by scientists and science communicators, the bi-weekly show simplifies complex scientific concepts into candid, relatable conversations featuring African researchers, innovators, experts, and policymakers. The podcast aims to humanise African scientists, showcase African-led innovations, and connect local research to global science discourse.
Dr Tom Kariuki, Chief Executive Officer of the SFA Foundation, said, “Science is inseparable from geopolitics and diplomacy. Platforms like Echoes of Evidence bring these realities closer to the public by showing how science is not just about discoveries in the lab, but also about shaping alliances, strengthening trust, and influencing global policy.”
The podcast is available on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Wazo Podcasts. It promises to grow into a trusted Pan-African platform by embracing storytelling, multilingual access, and diverse perspectives.
According to Dr Evelyn Gitau, Chief Scientific Officer at the SFA Foundation and co-host of the show, the series will amplify African leadership and voices transforming health, climate, agriculture, and technology. Senior Programme Manager Lillian Mutengu, also a co-host, added that the initiative seeks to rebuild public trust in science at a time when rapid progress often outpaces public understanding.
By fostering evidence-based dialogue between citizens, scientists, and policymakers, Echoes of Evidence positions science as a transparent, participatory, and trusted ally in Africa’s development journey.
