WildMango has announced a new partnership with OpenAI aimed at accelerating access to advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technologies across Africa, positioning the continent to play a more active role in the global digital economy.
The collaboration marks WildMango as one of OpenAI’s first small- and medium-business (SMB) partners in Africa. Through the agreement, the company will help distribute, integrate, and localize OpenAI’s AI tools for businesses, startups, and institutions across the region.
The initiative comes amid rising demand for AI solutions on the continent, driven by expanding digital infrastructure, growing entrepreneurial ecosystems, and increasing public-sector digitization.
“Our partnership with OpenAI positions Africa at the forefront of the global AI transformation,” said Serah Katusya, co-founder of WildMango. “We are striving to make sure Africa is not left behind.”
Under the partnership, WildMango will focus on expanding access to OpenAI’s technologies, adapting them to local contexts, and supporting developers and organizations with training and resources. The companies also aim to foster innovation through collaborations with corporates, startups, and research institutions.
OpenAI emphasized the importance of local expertise in deploying advanced technologies effectively. “Expanding our capabilities in Africa is important to OpenAI,” said Ben Tyson, Senior Partner Enablement Manager at OpenAI. “WildMango’s deep understanding of the African market, paired with their commitment to impact and long-term client success, gives us confidence in this partnership.”
The partnership will also prioritize responsible AI deployment, with a focus on safety, inclusivity, and long-term societal benefit.
WildMango, a Nairobi-based venture, describes its mission as connecting African businesses to cutting-edge technologies while enabling sustainable growth. OpenAI, meanwhile, continues to expand its global footprint as demand for AI-powered tools grows across industries including education, healthcare, finance, and public services.
With this collaboration, both organizations aim to unlock new economic opportunities and ensure that African businesses and developers can actively participate in shaping the future of AI.
