Equity Group Foundation (EGF) has brought together 4,404 Wings to Fly and Elimu scholars, including 3,402 refugee students from Dadaab and Kakuma, for its 16th Annual Education and Leadership Congress during the August school holidays.

Themed “The Innovation Generation: Igniting Ideas, Creating Impact,” the two-day regional forums are designed to inspire mentorship, leadership development, and social transformation. Scholars are engaging with leaders from government, corporate Kenya, academia, and development partners to sharpen their critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovation skills.

Speaking at the Nairobi congress hosted at Alliance Girls High School, EGF Board Director Dr. Ruth Kagia said, “We are cultivating more than scholars, we are developing a movement of purpose-driven leaders who will redefine Kenya’s future.”

Over the past 16 years, the Wings to Fly and Elimu scholarship programmes have supported 60,009 bright and needy students, with 82 percent of beneficiaries attaining university entry grades. Beyond secondary education, the Equity Leaders Program (ELP) has placed 1,098 scholars in global universities and facilitated 9,700 paid internships across the region.

The initiative, supported by Mastercard Foundation, the Ministry of Education, the World Bank, the German Government through KfW, and other partners, continues to align with Kenya’s Vision 2030 and the global Sustainable Development Goals by investing in education, innovation, and leadership development.
