Carrefour, which Majid Al Futtaim owns the exclusive rights to operate in Kenya, will host the inaugural Carrefour Open padel tournament from 4 to 7 June 2026 at the Village Market. Anchored in Carrefour Kenya’s commitment to the communities it serves, the tournament is designed to broaden access to the sport, support young athletes, and create meaningful opportunities for underserved communities.

The four‑day tournament will bring together more than 250 athletes across the Top, Advanced, Mixed, High Intermediate, Intermediate, and Open divisions, competing for a KES 700,000 cash prize pool. Attendees will also have access to interactive fan zones and community-focused activities designed to deepen engagement with the sport and encourage wider participation.

Carrefour will also host a youth community tournament on 3 June, bringing together 100 children from Gacharage Junior Secondary and Primary School. The children will be introduced to padel through guided sessions, with the top three earning a one‑year mentorship programme with Networks Padel Village coaches.

Christophe Orcet, Regional Director – East Africa, Majid Al Futtaim Retail, said: “At Majid Al Futtaim, we believe in the power of sport to bring communities together, inspire healthier lifestyles and create meaningful opportunities for the youth. This initiative reflects Carrefour Kenya’s commitment to the communities it serves, by widening access to sport and supporting youth development. Together, the youth tournament and mentorship programme are designed to create a lasting positive impact across Kenya.”

Hamed Ehsani, Managing Director of Village Market, added: “The Carrefour Open marks a significant step in the growth of padel in Kenya. This partnership allows us to welcome more players, families, and young people to the sport while building a strong foundation for its long‑term development in the country.”
