The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has revoked the licences of 155 communication service providers following a comprehensive regulatory review conducted under the Kenya Information and Communications Act.
According to a gazette notice published on 16 October, the revocations will take effect seven days from the date of publication. After this period, the affected companies will no longer be authorised to operate or provide communication services within Kenya.
“Notice is given pursuant to the provisions of the Kenya Information and Communications Act that the Communications Authority of Kenya shall revoke the licences of the following service providers within seven days from the date of this Gazette Notice,” the statement read in part.
The authority said that any resources or assets allocated under the revoked licences will automatically revert to the CA. The affected firms include 58 Application Service Providers (ASPs), 19 Network Facilities Providers (NFPs), and 78 Content Service Providers (CSPs).
At the same time, the CA acknowledged receiving applications from six new companies seeking commercial communication licences, signalling ongoing restructuring within the industry. The authority has invited the public to submit objections or representations regarding the listed applicants through its official communication channels.
This enforcement action is part of the CA’s broader effort to enhance compliance and maintain integrity within Kenya’s fast-evolving ICT sector.
