Baltasar Ebang Engonga, the Director General of the National Financial Investigation Agency in Equatorial Guinea, has been arrested for allegedly recording over 400 sex tapes of the wives of notable people in the country. The scandal emerged during a fraud investigation against the 54-year-old economist which resulted in the search of his house and office.

The explicit videos, discovered on Engonga’s computer, show him in compromising situations with multiple women, including some who are married. The footage was recorded with consent and has since been leaked online, causing a media frenzy.

Engonga, nicknamed “Bello,” is seen having unprotected sex with several women, including those married to powerful and well-known people in the country, but also with the most “diva and influential” single women in Equatorial Guinea. Some scenes take place in hotel rooms, houses, and even in his office at the Ministry of Finance.

The scandal sparked outrage and calls for accountability, with some demanding Engonga’s resignation. The Equatorial Guinea government has not yet commented on the matter.

Government Response

In light of the scandal, Vice President Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue has condemned the actions of Engonga and emphasized the government’s commitment to maintaining public trust. He announced a “zero tolerance” policy towards unethical behavior within the public service, stating that all officials found engaging in sexual activities in government offices would face disciplinary action.

The government has also implemented measures to curb the spread of the explicit videos online, as the situation poses potential public health risks. Chief Prosecutor Anatolio Nzang Nguema has warned that if Engonga is found to be carrying any sexually transmitted diseases, he could face additional charges related to public health violations.
