TikTok has deleted more than half a million videos in Kenya between April and June 2025 for violating its Community Guidelines, according to its latest Quarter 2, 2025 Community Guidelines Enforcement Report.
The report shows that 592,037 videos were taken down from the Kenyan platform within the three-month period. A vast majority of them, 92.9 percent, were removed before anyone viewed them, while 96.3 percent were taken down within 24 hours of being posted.
TikTok says the move is part of its effort to maintain a safe online space and ensure a positive experience for its users. The removals are part of a broader global enforcement drive that saw the company delete over 189 million videos worldwide during the same period — equivalent to 0.7 percent of all content uploaded.
Globally, 99.1 percent of the removed videos were detected proactively by the platform’s automated moderation systems, while 94.4 percent were taken down within a day. Of these, 163.9 million were automatically deleted by artificial intelligence tools.
In addition to video removals, TikTok purged 76.9 million fake accounts and another 25.9 million accounts suspected to belong to children under 13 years old, as part of its effort to uphold the platform’s integrity.
The company said its moderation efforts rely on a mix of advanced AI technology and human expertise from thousands of trust and safety professionals. This, it added, helps curb the spread of hate speech, misinformation, and harmful content that could negatively affect users.
Live streaming under tighter watch
For the first time, TikTok’s quarterly report also included figures on its crackdown on LIVE monetisation violations. During the quarter, the company took action against 2.32 million LIVE sessions and over one million creators, issuing warnings and demonetisation penalties for breaking monetisation guidelines.
TikTok said the warnings are designed to educate creators about the rules and encourage them to adjust their behaviour before stricter measures are taken.
Users urged to report violations
To enhance safety further, TikTok is encouraging users to report content, comments, or accounts that appear to breach its standards using the in-app reporting tools.
The company says this collaborative approach between users and the platform is essential for building a “safe and thriving digital space” where people can share and enjoy creative content responsibly.
