The announcement in the Kenya Gazette unveils fresh appointments to key state boards, a firm timetable for National Youth Council elections, new AFCON 2027 planning structures, and approval of a major banking deal.

The government has formally appointed a National Steering Committee to manage National Youth Council elections, giving it the job of coordinating the process, handling disputes, verifying nominations and overseeing the digital systems to be used. The same Gazette then sets out the election calendar: ward-level elections from 5 July, constituency elections from 16 July, and National Youth Congress elections from 27 July 2026.

That means the youth election season is no longer just being discussed — it is now officially underway.

Sport also gets major attention in the issue. Antony Emmanuel Inzahuli Lung’aho was appointed Head of the Secretariat for the Pamoja AFCON 2027 Local Organising Committee, while a previous multi-agency arrangement was replaced with a new committee structure. The table on page 6 shows just how broad that structure is, bringing together representatives from government, football, tourism, immigration, customs, sports agencies and the private sector.

In the financial sector, the Gazette confirms that Zenith Bank PLC has received approval to acquire 100 percent of Paramount Bank Limited. The notice says the transaction was cleared by Paramount’s board, Zenith’s board, the Central Bank of Kenya and the National Treasury, with a public announcement to follow once the deal is completed.
