Samsung Electronics East Africa Unveils Its 2026 TV Line-up in Kenya, Introducing the New Mini LED TV Range

Samsung Electronics has launched its 2026 television lineup in Kenya, introducing a new Mini LED TV range aimed at consumers looking for brighter displays, smoother gaming performance, and more personalised home entertainment.

The new range, available in the M80H and M70H series, combines Samsung’s Mini LED display technology with its Vision AI Companion, AI Soccer Mode, and Motion Xcelerator 144Hz.

Mini LED TVs use smaller light-emitting diodes to provide more precise control over screen brightness. Samsung says this allows the new models to produce brighter images, deeper blacks, improved contrast, and sharper picture quality across different types of content.

The TVs also use artificial intelligence to analyse content in real time and adjust picture quality depending on what a viewer is watching.

This means sports broadcasts, films, games, and regular television programmes can be automatically optimised without users having to manually change display settings.

Samsung is positioning AI as the next TV battleground

Beyond display quality, Samsung is increasingly positioning artificial intelligence as a central part of the television experience.

Its Vision AI Companion allows users to ask their television questions and receive real-time responses. The feature is designed to help viewers search for content, discover information, and interact with the television beyond traditional navigation through apps and menus.

For football viewers, Samsung has introduced AI Soccer Mode, which automatically recognises football content and adjusts the picture and audio to create a more immersive viewing experience.

The feature arrives at a time when television manufacturers are competing to make live sports a major selling point for premium screens, particularly through larger displays, enhanced sound, and smoother motion.

Samsung’s Motion Xcelerator 144Hz is also designed for fast-moving content, including football, action films, and video games. A higher refresh rate allows a television to display motion more smoothly and reduce blur during fast scenes.

“For 20 years, Samsung has led the global TV market by continuously innovating to meet the changing needs of consumers,” said Sam Odhiambo, Samsung’s Head of Consumer Electronics Business in Kenya.

“Our 2026 TV lineup brings together larger screens, AI-powered intelligence and breakthrough display technologies to create more immersive and personalised viewing experiences.”

Premium TV competition is shifting beyond picture quality

Samsung’s launch reflects a broader shift in the television market, where manufacturers are no longer competing only on screen resolution.

Premium TVs are increasingly being marketed as connected entertainment systems that combine artificial intelligence, gaming features, smart-home controls, content recommendations, and security.

Samsung has built its television business around technologies including Quantum Dot displays, Neo QLED, Vision AI, and Samsung Knox security.

The company says it has maintained its position as the world’s leading television brand for 20 consecutive years.

Its new Mini LED models are intended to make some of its premium display and AI features available across more screen sizes and product categories in Kenya.

However, Samsung has not disclosed the local prices of the M80H and M70H models.

Micro RGB TV coming to Kenya in September

Samsung also confirmed that it plans to expand its premium television portfolio in Kenya in September 2026 with the introduction of its next-generation Micro RGB TV.

The upcoming television will use Samsung’s latest display technology to improve colour accuracy, brightness, and picture precision.

The planned launch suggests Samsung is targeting multiple levels of Kenya’s premium television market, with Mini LED serving consumers seeking advanced display technology across several screen sizes, while Micro RGB will likely sit at the higher end of its portfolio.

As television screens become larger and smarter, Samsung is betting that AI-powered features, sports optimisation, and gaming performance will increasingly influence what consumers consider when upgrading their home entertainment systems.
