Samsung has once again pushed the boundaries of smartphone durability with the introduction of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, featuring the revolutionary Corning® Gorilla® Armor 2. This cutting-edge glass ceramic cover material is the industry’s first to offer both scratch resistance and anti-reflective properties, setting a new benchmark for smartphone screens. However, despite its incredible toughness, even this advanced technology has its limits.

A Major Leap in Screen Protection

The Gorilla Armor 2 glass used on the Galaxy S25 Ultra marks a significant improvement over its predecessor. Engineered for superior durability, it offers better resistance to scratches and breakage, making everyday accidents far less worrisome. According to Corning’s rigorous lab tests, this innovative glass survived drops from as high as 2.2 meters onto surfaces that mimic concrete. In contrast, other glass ceramics failed when dropped from just one meter.

Beyond durability, the new Gorilla Armor 2 also enhances user experience by dramatically reducing glare and reflections, ensuring a clearer display even under harsh lighting conditions. Whether indoors or outdoors, users can expect a more immersive viewing experience with sharper contrast and improved visibility.

What Can Still Damage the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s Screen?

While the Galaxy S25 Ultra’s screen is tougher than ever, it is not indestructible. Extreme impacts—such as drops from excessive heights, direct hits from sharp objects, or forceful collisions—could still cause breakage. Additionally, though the screen is highly scratch-resistant, exposure to abrasive materials like sand or metal fragments could eventually leave marks.

It is also worth noting that, despite its impressive shatter resistance, excessive bending or pressure on the display may compromise its structural integrity. While Gorilla Armor 2 enhances the phone’s survivability, users should still take precautions to protect their devices from extreme conditions.

A Legacy of Innovation and Collaboration

The integration of Gorilla Armor 2 into the Galaxy S25 Ultra underscores the long-standing partnership between Samsung and Corning, both committed to advancing mobile technology. Anthony Hutia, Head of Mobile Experience at Samsung Electronics East Africa, emphasized Samsung’s dedication to delivering cutting-edge devices that meet consumers’ evolving needs.

“Our collaboration with Corning reinforces Samsung’s promise to provide premium, resilient devices that enhance the everyday experiences of customers,” he stated.
