Actress and content creator Trisha Khalid has been unveiled as Dr Ofweneke’s new co-host as popular dating reality show Hello Mr Right Kenya returns for a fifth season.
The secret is finally out!
After weeks of speculation and teasers online, Trisha Khalid has officially joined Dr Ofweneke and relationship expert Getrude Mungai on the Hello Mr Right Kenya panel.
The actress, model and content creator was unveiled during a press briefing at Victoria Towers in Upper Hill, Nairobi.
She replaces Risper Faith, who co-hosted Season 4.
Why Trisha Khalid?
According to Dr Ofweneke, Trisha emerged top from a shortlist of about five personalities considered for the role.
“We had around five names on the table. We looked at personality, energy, authenticity and originality, at what each person thinks about love and marriage, and of course we checked the beauty as well. Everything settled on Trisha Khalid,” he said.
The comedian added that he is already expecting an exciting season alongside his new co-host.
“Personally, I know I’m going to have a good time this season.”
Trisha, meanwhile, warned Ofweneke that things may get a little chaotic.
“I expect more energy and more fun from both of us. I’m about to stress him out,” she joked.
StarTimes Marketing Director Tamima Ibrahim said Trisha’s popularity, television experience and strong social media following made her a natural fit for the show.
“The candidate we selected is not new to the audience. She has a huge following and great TV hosting experience. Women want to be her, and men want to have her,” Tamima said.
Hello Mr Right Season 5 brings major changes
Season 5 will also feature a more diverse group of people looking for love.
Producers say the new season includes differently abled contestants, people living with skin pigmentation challenges and participants aged 45 and above.
Divorced, separated and widowed contestants will also take part.
Getrude Mungai revealed that the show has attracted contestants well into their 50s and even a 65-year-old man searching for a partner.
“The new look this season has mature women. We have had women over 45, and we have a 65-year-old man coming to look for love,” she said.
Dr Ofweneke said the wider age range will bring more real-life conversations around relationships and marriage.
“There are going to be a lot of realistic life experiences about what love and relationships are, and what men and women expect from marriage,” he said.
Viewers should also brace themselves for heated conversations around money, marriage, family roles, who should pay the bills and even who should cook.
StarTimes backs dating show for another season
StarTimes says Hello Mr Right remains one of its strongest local entertainment programmes.
“Hello Mr Right is the biggest dating reality show in Africa. We are very happy with the show’s performance, and our subscribers have been very loyal in supporting it throughout the many years it has been on air,” Tamima said.
The programme will be one of StarTimes’ major local content offerings as the broadcaster heads into the festive season.
