Seven women-led technology startups are set to receive a total of Sh8.75 million in grant funding at the Women in Tech Kenya Cohort 9 Award Ceremony on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
The ceremony, organised by the Standard Chartered Foundation in partnership with Village Capital and @iBizAfrica–Strathmore University, will be held at Standard Chartered Bank’s head office in Westlands, Nairobi.
The seven winning startups, selected from a cohort of 15 women founders, will each receive Sh1.25 million to support the continued growth and development of their businesses.
The ninth cohort of the Women in Tech Kenya Accelerator has supported women-led, technology-enabled enterprises through skills development, mentorship, resources, networks and opportunities aimed at building sustainable businesses and creating social and economic impact.
The participating startups operate across sectors including AgriTech, EdTech, renewable energy, accessibility technology and financial inclusion, among other emerging areas of technology and innovation.
The award ceremony will mark the culmination of the Cohort 9 programme, while also recognising the achievements of all 15 participating founders.
Key guests expected at the ceremony include Standard Chartered Kenya Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer and Head of Coverage Birju Sanghrajka; Strathmore University Vice Chancellor Dr Vincent Ogutu; and Village Capital Senior Program Manager Yazmin Jumaali.
The event will also provide an opportunity for the media to engage with the winning founders, other programme participants and stakeholders on the growth of women-led businesses and innovation in Kenya.
The ceremony is scheduled to run from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Standard Chartered Bank Head Office, Westlands Road, near Chiromo Lane.
