Spotify is once again bringing together legends from music and football through its innovative partnership with FC Barcelona. This time, the iconic FC Barcelona jersey will feature the logo of Coldplay, in celebration of the band’s latest album, Moon Music, which was released on October 4th. The album debuted at number one on Spotify’s global charts, further cementing Coldplay’s position as the most streamed British band of all time on the platform.

As part of this groundbreaking collaboration, the Moon Music-inspired Coldplay logo will make its debut on the jerseys worn by FC Barcelona players during one of football’s most anticipated events – El Clásico – when Barça takes on Real Madrid on October 26th. Additionally, the FC Barcelona Femení team will also don the special edition shirts in their Liga F match against Eibar on November 2nd.

Coldplay’s influence on Spotify is unparalleled. The band has 12 tracks in the Spotify Billions Club, the highest of any band, and their music has been added to over 100 million user-generated playlists worldwide. A special connection between the band and FC Barcelona is also evident, with their 2008 hit “Viva la Vida” becoming an unofficial anthem for the club during the team’s historic 2008-09 season.

This unique collaboration celebrates the unity of football and music. “We’re honoured that Spotify has chosen to feature our Moon Music design on the shirt of FC Barcelona,” Coldplay shared in a statement. “We’ve had a special relationship with the city and the club for many years. We’re also proud to support the UNHCR in their life-saving work to protect refugees and displaced people around the world.”

In addition to the jersey, a limited-edition Coldplay and FC Barcelona lifestyle collection, including t-shirts, hoodies, and scarves, will be available for fans. The design merges celestial themes from Moon Music with Barça’s legendary colours. All proceeds from the limited-edition merchandise, along with net proceeds from the jerseys, will support The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), with which FC Barcelona has partnered since 2022 to raise awareness for refugees.

A limited run of 1899 jerseys – a nod to FC Barcelona’s founding year – will be available for purchase from Barça Official Stores and online from October 18th. The presale begins on October 17th at 11:30 pm CEST. For the ultimate collectors, 22 glow-in-the-dark jerseys will be released – 11 signed by the starting men’s team and 11 signed by the starting women’s team.

Spotify’s Vice President of Partnerships and Marketing, Marc Hazan, spoke on the special collaboration: “Coldplay is one of the most beloved bands in the world on Spotify, and their storied connection to Barça runs deep. We are thrilled to celebrate that history with fans worldwide through the iconic Barça jersey.”

FC Barcelona’s VP of Marketing, Juli Guiu, echoed these sentiments: “We are delighted that through our partnership with Spotify, Coldplay will feature on the FC Barcelona shirt for El Clásico. The band and the club have a mutual love which stretches back many years, from the band visiting training sessions to Barça players watching Coldplay live in Barcelona.”

This collaboration continues to build on Spotify and FC Barcelona’s unique partnership, which has previously featured artists like KAROL G, The Rolling Stones, ROSALÍA, and Drake on Barça’s jerseys. By bringing together music and football, this partnership showcases the power of shared experiences that unite fans across the globe.
