Commitment to a Sustainable Future

Throughout 2023, Vertiv has made significant strides in its mission to create a responsible future. The company’s efforts have been centred on developing efficient products and systems, ensuring responsible operations, supporting its workforce, engaging with local communities, maintaining supply chain integrity, and upholding strong governance practices. The “One Vertiv, One World” plan will guide Vertiv’s next steps in generating long-term value for shareholders, customers, and the broader community.

Giordano Albertazzi, Vertiv CEO, remarked, “We continue to advance our efforts to be a responsible global and corporate citizen while simultaneously providing products and services that help our customers achieve their own environmental sustainability goals. With demand for AI growing rapidly across the world, we at Vertiv are providing infrastructure products, systems and services that enable our customers to advance their AI initiatives with high performance and a lower environmental impact.”

Key Initiatives and Achievements

The 2023 report outlines several notable initiatives and achievements:

  1. Advanced Cooling Solutions: Vertiv expanded its offerings of high-efficiency liquid cooling solutions and low-global warming potential refrigerants, aiding customers in advancing AI initiatives with reduced environmental impact. The acquisition of CoolTera Ltd., a specialist in liquid cooling solutions, has further strengthened Vertiv’s thermal management capabilities.
  2. Battery Energy Storage System (BESS): A new BESS with lithium-ion batteries was introduced, providing utility-scale energy storage that supports operational resilience, reduces peak demand charges, and promotes the use of alternative energy resources like solar panels, wind turbines, and hydrogen fuel cells. This system was showcased at Vertiv’s Delaware, Ohio facility, which also serves as a Customer Experience Center for demonstrating reduced carbon emissions solutions.
  3. Vertiv™ TimberMod™: This innovative product incorporates mass timber as a key structural component for prefabricated modular data centre solutions, potentially minimising resource depletion and reducing the carbon footprint compared to traditional steel structures.
  4. Guide to Data Center Sustainability: Vertiv released an updated guide featuring new statistics and information to help customers and stakeholders enhance their sustainability practices.
  5. Operational Efficiency: Efforts to monitor and improve the company’s primary environmental impacts have been intensified. Notably, the water reclamation system at Vertiv’s Monterrey, Mexico facility collects water from air conditioning units and repurposes it, reducing dependence on the city’s water supply.
  6. Community Impact: Vertiv continues to make a positive impact in the communities it serves, demonstrating its commitment to social responsibility.
  7. Supply Chain Integrity: The report also highlights Vertiv’s dedication to maintaining supply chain integrity, ensuring compliance with industry standards for responsible minerals, human rights, and labour conditions.

Vertiv’s 2023 Responsible Business Report underscores the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, ethical business practices, and community engagement, positioning it as a leader in creating a responsible and sustainable future in the tech and data centre industries.
