Carrefour, which Majid Al Futtaim owns the exclusive rights to operate in Kenya, is celebrating its 9th anniversary in the country. Over the past nine years, Carrefour has played a transformative role in redefining the modern retail experience while leading an active role in boosting national economy by creating local jobs and expanding its local product portfolio through partnerships with local suppliers, farmers, and SMEs – aligning with Kenya’s socio-economic goals. To mark this milestone, Carrefour is launching a nationwide customer rewarding campaign worth over KES 20 million, including a brand-new car valued at KES 1.3 million. The campaign, titled “Yetu Tisa, Wako Milele”, further underscores Carrefour’s dedication to uplifting communities and enriching the lives of the Kenyan community.

From May 26 to June 12, more than 3,000 shoppers will have the chance to win their entire shopping cart for free at checkout through playing “Spin the Wheel”. Additionally, customers who spend KES 1,000 or more on partner brands participating will enter a grand draw to win a new car, with the winner announced on June 13. To celebrate the milestone, Carrefour is also offering up to 50 percent on a wide range of products, including groceries, electronics, and home essentials -in all 29 Carrefour stores and online through its shopping application.

Christophe Orcet, Regional Director of East Africa, Majid Al Futtaim Retail, commented: “This anniversary is a true milestone as we celebrate the journey we have shared with Kenyan families over the past nine years. From job creation, knowledge sharing, and supplier partnerships to the daily interaction with thousands of our customers in stores, Carrefour has grown hand in hand with the communities we serve. This campaign is our heartfelt thank-you to the hardworking families who trust us every day.”

Since launching in Kenya in 2016, Carrefour has expanded its footprint, partnering with over 690 local suppliers, including small-scale farmers, manufacturers, and SMEs. Carrefour in Kenya directly employs 2,800 people and supports thousands more through indirect employment across its operations.

Majid Al Futtaim has also launched its Retail Business School in Kenya, among a few other selective markets, to continue developing a pipeline of local retail talents with an aim to upskill over 1,500 talents annually.

Christophe added: “Our mission is clear – to provide a seamless and enjoyable shopping experience to our customers while driving sustainable, long-term growth that contributes to Kenya’s continued economic and social development.”
