CNN will mark the fifth edition of its global Call to Earth Day on November 6, 2025, celebrating the collective action of people and cultures working to protect the planet. The initiative, part of CNN’s long-running partnership with Rolex and its Perpetual Planet Initiative, will unite schools, individuals, and organisations across the world for a day of environmental awareness and conservation education.

The 2025 theme, “Guard Your Green Space,” urges communities and nations to take decisive action to protect the natural environments that sustain them. From rewilding efforts in Europe to tree-planting drives in sub-Saharan Africa, participants will highlight practical, grassroots conservation work already underway across continents.

Last year, more than 230,000 people took part in over 660 events across 107 countries. This year, CNN reports record engagement, with registrations already surpassing previous figures and over 500,000 participants expected worldwide.

Throughout the day, CNN will feature environmental stories, live interviews, and documentaries across CNN International, CNN en Español, and CNN Arabic, spotlighting individuals and communities devoted to protecting nature. Highlights include a half-hour special, “No Blue, No Green: A Conversation with Sylvia Earle,” featuring CNN Chief Climate Correspondent Bill Weir in discussion with the renowned oceanographer and Rolex Testimonee Sylvia Earle.

Digital platforms will also play a major role, with interactive features, live blogs, and global social engagement using the hashtag #CallToEarth. CNN en Español will air special reports from Latin America, while CNN10 will run a themed week for students ahead of the event.

Reflecting on the milestone, Ellana Lee, CNN Group Senior Vice President, GM APAC, and Global Head of Productions, said, “This fifth anniversary is a chance to reflect on the successes of Call to Earth Day, as well as look ahead to the future. Each year, we’ve seen more schools and organisations come together to celebrate a planet worth protecting, and this year is no exception.”

Launched in 2019, Call to Earth has evolved into one of CNN’s flagship environmental initiatives, showcasing changemakers, innovators, and projects that demonstrate the power of collective action to safeguard the planet for future generations.
