Safaricom (NSE: SCOM) has partnered with Vesen and Anga to draw more movie goers through a dedicated M-PESA Mini App. Located in the M-PESA Super App, the Anga M-PESA Mini App will offer movie schedules alongside booking and ticketing at Anga CBD, Anga Diamond and Anga Sky.

“We are excited to partner with Safaricom to provide customers on M-PESA with a convenient way to view upcoming movies and book tickets through the Anga Mini App. Through this partnership, we can reach customers directly on their phones and offer them a widely preferred payment choice to book their tickets,” said Kenneth Kimutai, Managing Director  – Anga.

Through the partnership, Anga is targeting the more than 7.4 million customers who have downloaded the M-PESA Super App aiming to draw new viewers to theatres and sell additional tickets to movie goers through enticing offers and the convenience of booking through the app.

“We are thrilled to be part of this amazing journey by providing technology that allows cinemas to connect to partners such as the M-PESA Super App. Our goal is to increase customer satisfaction and reduce the long queues in the cinema halls by diversifying ticket sale points. As the lead, I am proud of the work done by our skilled technical team and this marks the beginning of building more technology bridges,” said John Ndungu, CEO   – Vesen Computing.

Anga joins more than 45 other Mini-Apps hosted on the M-PESA Super App as a growing number of businesses look to tap into M-PESA’s popularity to grow their revenues and customer base. Safaricom handles distribution and marketing for the businesses on the M-PESA super App while earning transaction fees. As at March 2023, the number of businesses on Lipa Na M-PESA had grown to more than 606,000 transacting over KSh. 1.6 trillion over the last 12 months.

“The Anga M-PESA Mini App seeks to provide movie goers with increased convenience, enabling them to view schedules and book tickets from wherever they are while drawing more customers to cinemas. This partnership with Anga goes beyond providing movie tickets and brings us closer to our ambition to make the M-PESA Super App a digital lifestyle enabler for our customers,” said Peter Ndegwa, CEO – Safaricom.
