Today, Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa officially became the 2nd Chancellor of Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST), starting his 5-year term. He takes over from Dr. James Mwangi, CEO of Equity Group Holdings Plc, who served ten years as the 1st chancellor.

Ndegwa’s appointment highlights the university’s commitment to collaborating with industry experts to enhance academic programs and innovation.

In his acceptance speech, Ndegwa expressed his honour and dedication to advancing the university’s mission. He looks forward to working with the university’s community to expand its academic integrity and innovation.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Romanus Otieno welcomed Ndegwa, praising his leadership at Safaricom and his dedication to using technology for societal progress.

Dr. James Mwangi, the founding Chancellor, expressed his support for Ndegwa, confident that he will uphold the institution’s vision of academic excellence and societal impact.

Meru University of Science and Technology, established in 2013, emphasizes innovation, research, and academic excellence.
