As part of the campaign, Safaricom will also delight customers with gamified experiences, allowing them to spin a wheel on the Safaricom website, and win amazing prizes including offers in data, airtime, coupons, and more, upon redeeming their Bonga Points. This interactive approach not only deepens customer engagement but also embodies the joyous theme of sharing during the festive season.

“This festive season, we want to spread joy, and kindness with others through various special delights for our customers and encourage everyone to join in the spirit of sharing. Our ‘Sambaza Furaha’ campaign is more than just offers; it’s about coming together as a community, spreading the Christmas cheer and making a difference in the lives of those around us. We recognize the economic challenges faced by many during this season, and this campaign aims to demonstrate our continuous support for our customers, ensuring that they can still enjoy the festive season despite economic constraints,” said Peter Ndegwa, Safaricom’s CEO.

The campaign further extends the rewards with a 1:1 ratio on Bonga Points redemption for voice and data needs. One can redeem 60 bonga points for 60 minutes valid for 2Hrs, or 250 bonga points for 250MBs valid till midnight creating a personalized and rewarding experience that aligns with the essence of the season.

Customers looking for home internet can purchase 4G Wi-Fi routers at a discounted price, slashed down from KES 6,999 to KES 2,999.

Other key features of the campaign will include;

“Niokolee Na Bonga “ feature which allows customers to use their Bonga Points to pay for utility bills (water, electricity) and other essential goods and services across a wide network of Lipa Na M-PESA merchants. This not only adds value to the points but also promotes the spirit of giving back and making a positive impact during the holiday season. Customers can now use their Bonga Points to pay back their Fuliza loan.

Additionally, customers can also purchase the locally assembled Neon smartphones, which come with free accessories, using a combination of Bonga Points and Cash.

Bonga For Good: In the spirit of giving, customers can donate their Bonga Points to World Food Programme, UNHCR and World Vision.

M-PESA Discounts: M-PESA customers will enjoy discounts of up to 20% off local flights, SGR train tickets, and bus gift vouchers when they pay using the M-PESA Mini Apps, creating more opportunities for customers to celebrate without financial strain.

Discounts on Food and Other Services when using MySafaricom App: Customers will also enjoy discounts of up to 33% at selected brands, including Spice World, Gilanis, Pepinos, Dominos, Mama Rocks, Wings Kenya, and Simbisa, when paying through the MySafaricom App. Additionally, they will also enjoy discounts of up to 40% when paying for travel with partners like Bella Safaris, Bonfire, and Travel Shore, and a further 20% off for accommodation at Alba Hotel Meru, Social House in Nairobi and Ciala Resort in Kisumu.

The campaign launch was marked by a lunch drive at Hon. John Njoroge Secondary school in Nairobi’s Kasarani area where Safaricom engaged the community through sharing of meals and giving delights like live Mbuzis, chicken and other food items.

In the true spirit of making a positive impact, Safaricom aims to bring communities together through the “Sambaza Furaha” campaign, emphasizing the spirit of sharing love and joy during festivities.
