In many Kenyan households, the tablet has quietly become the most shared screen in the room. It moves from kitchen table to bedroom, from a child revising homework to a parent answering emails or catching up on a favourite series late at night. It is this everyday reality that TECNO appears to be addressing with the arrival of its new MEGAPAD SE tablet in Kenya.

Now available locally at Kes 18,999, the MEGAPAD SE enters a market where demand for affordable and versatile smart devices continues to grow. According to the latest sector reports from the Communications Authority of Kenya, digital adoption across homes, schools and small businesses remains on an upward curve, driven by mobile first habits and the need for flexible technology that can do more than one job.

TECNO’s pitch is simple. This is a tablet designed to sit at the centre of daily life, bridging the gap between a smartphone, a laptop and a family entertainment screen. What sets it apart, the company says, is its focus on built in artificial intelligence, tailored to practical, everyday use rather than novelty.

At the heart of the device is Ella, TECNO’s in house AI voice assistant. With a press of a side button, users can ask Ella to help rewrite messages, summarise long documents or check grammar before sending an important email. For students, it means breaking down dense notes into manageable highlights. For professionals, it is about saving time and communicating more clearly.

Language is another area where the tablet aims to feel at home in a diverse society. Ella’s translation tools support more than 50 languages, enabling real time conversation translation, photo based translation for signs and menus, and social translation within messaging apps such as WhatsApp. In a country where multilingual interaction is part of daily life, these features feel less futuristic and more quietly useful.

Creativity has not been left out. The AI Artboard allows users to turn ideas into visuals, whether for social media, personal projects or simple design inspiration. It reflects how visual content has become part of how many Kenyans express themselves online, from small business owners to content creators.

The hardware backs up this ambition. An 11 inch FHD plus display with a smooth 90Hz refresh rate makes the tablet comfortable for reading, learning and streaming. TÜV Rheinland low blue light certification is a nod to long hours spent on screens, particularly by students. Performance is handled by a Qualcomm eight core processor, while an 8000mAh battery offers up to 15 hours of video playback, enough to last a full day without constant charging.

Storage is generous at 256GB, expandable to 512GB, and the slim all metal body gives the tablet a premium feel without pushing it out of reach. Optional accessories such as a Bluetooth keyboard, protective case and stylus pen allow users to adapt it for work, study or creative use.

For TECNO, the launch of the MEGAPAD SE in Kenya signals a continued push to make advanced technology more accessible. Rather than positioning the tablet as a luxury gadget, the company is clearly targeting families, students and professionals looking for a single device that can keep up with busy, connected lives.

The MEGAPAD SE is now available through authorised TECNO retail stores and partner outlets across Kenya, entering homes at a time when the line between work, learning and leisure continues to blur, and one screen often has to do it all.
