The partnership follows the successful completion of a three-year environmental conservation project implemented between 2021 and 2023 with a total investment of KES 57.5 million which promoted environmental stewardship among children and youth in Kilifi and Narok Counties. Through tree planting, clean energy adoption and community engagement, the initiative reached 170 schools, engaging nearly 63,000 children and youth and sensitizing more than 9,400 households on environmental conservation practices.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, I&M Bank Group Executive Director, Mr. Sarit shah said the that the new phase of the partnership marks an important shift towards innovation-led sustainability interventions.

“As we reflect on the impact achieved over the last three years, we are equally excited about the future. We believe sustainable transformation happens when communities, institutions and innovators work together to solve real challenges.  Through this new partnership, we are investing in ideas and innovations that combine technology, environmental stewardship and community empowerment to deliver scalable and lasting change.”

The new programme reflects a strategic shift towards technology-enabled environmental solutions, recognising that the intersection of green innovation and digital transformation represents one of the most significant opportunities for sustainable development in Kenya. At a time when climate resilience and sustainable innovation are becoming increasingly

critical to Kenya’s development agenda, the partnership seeks to accelerate locally driven solutions with long-term environmental and social impact.

Supported innovators and organisations will receive both financial grants and structured capacity strengthening, ensuring that promising ideas are not only funded but equipped to scale and sustain impact.

The initiative underscores the growing importance of partnerships in advancing climate resilience, sustainability and inclusive development while empowering local communities and young people to play an active role in shaping Kenya’s environmental future.
