This prestigious event will take place in France from Friday, 26 July 2024, to Sunday, 11 August 2024.

As the official technology and payments partner, Safaricom has committed KES 30 million in cash and kind. Safaricom’s CEO, Peter Ndegwa, expressed the company’s dedication to supporting Kenyan athletes. “This sponsorship reflects our commitment to empowering athletes with technological and financial tools. Our athletes have worked hard to prepare for the Olympics, and our support ensures they are also well-prepared beyond the stadium thanks to the financial literacy workshops,” he stated.

As part of the sponsorship, Safaricom has acquired several exclusive rights. These include naming rights for the residential camps and training centres, the right to conduct a competition to design a new mascot, and the right to provide financial literacy workshops during residential training camps.

Experience the Olympics in Paris

In an exciting addition, Safaricom has partnered with Visa, the Worldwide Payment Technology Partner of the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games, to offer an incredible opportunity for Kenyan sports enthusiasts. Four lucky Kenyans and a companion each will win a trip to Paris to support Team Kenya and witness the Olympics firsthand.

The trip package for the winners and their companions includes flights, accommodation, meals, drinks, and stadium tickets for various Olympic events, ensuring an unforgettable experience.

How to Enter

To enter the draw, make any transaction worth KES 1,500 or more using the M-Pesa GlobalPay Virtual Visa Card through the M-Pesa App. Each transaction automatically qualifies as an entry, bringing users one step closer to experiencing the magic of the Olympics in Paris.

Peter Ndegwa highlighted the importance of this initiative: “We are excited to offer four Kenyans the chance to experience the Olympics in Paris with a companion, fostering national pride and unity. We believe in the power of sports to inspire and unite people, and we are honoured to support Team Kenya’s journey to success.”

Visa’s East Africa Vice President and General Manager, Chad Pollock, echoed this sentiment: “As the Worldwide Payment Technology Partner for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, we are thrilled about our partnership with Safaricom. This collaboration brings together two innovative and customer-centric organisations. It is an exciting opportunity for M-Pesa GlobalPay Virtual Visa Card customers and a testament to our commitment to making everyday transactions rewarding.”
