American R&B superstar Ne-Yo is heading to Nairobi, setting the stage for a major Mashujaa Day celebration on October 20, 2026.
The three-time Grammy Award winner will headline One Night Only: Brunch Edition with Ne-Yo at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Nairobi, in an event sponsored by Stanbic Bank.
UK-based band Sol and the Gang will also take the stage as organisers promise a premium music and lifestyle experience for Kenyan fans.
But beyond the music, Stanbic Bank says the concert is also expected to create opportunities for players across Kenya’s growing entertainment industry, including local artists, event producers, technical crews, hospitality businesses, suppliers and other small businesses.
Stanbic Bank Kenya and South Sudan Chief Executive Michael Mutiga said major entertainment events have the potential to generate business far beyond the artists appearing on stage.
“Bringing an artist of Ne-Yo’s calibre to Nairobi is an opportunity to pair a world-class experience with meaningful local economic impact,” Mutiga said.
“Our support goes beyond the performance itself: it helps create opportunities for the artists, producers, technical teams, vendors and small businesses that bring an event of this scale to life.”
He added that Kenya’s creative economy continues to emerge as an important growth sector, creating jobs and business opportunities for thousands of people.
According to a 2021 report by the World Intellectual Property Organization and the Kenya Copyright Board, Kenya’s creative sector contributes about 5.32 per cent of the country’s GDP and supports approximately 195,000 formal jobs.
Thousands more Kenyans earn their living through informal creative work, including music, photography, film, fashion, events, content creation and other related businesses.
Stanbic says its sponsorship of One Night Only is aimed at helping such businesses gain visibility while giving customers access to major international entertainment experiences.
Stanbic Bank Kenya Head of Brand and Marketing Lilian Onyach said the event provides an opportunity to showcase the commercial potential of the creative industry.
“Through this sponsorship, we are connecting our customers to world-class entertainment while creating a platform that celebrates the depth and commercial potential of Kenya’s creative industry,” Onyach said.
She added that while fans can expect a memorable show, the event will also provide business opportunities for professionals and companies working behind the scenes.
The concert comes as Nairobi continues to attract major international entertainers, with concerts increasingly becoming important platforms for tourism, hospitality and the wider creative economy.
Stanbic Bank was recently named Overall Best Bank in Kenya at the Think Business Awards, while its parent group, Standard Bank, was ranked Africa’s Most Valuable Bank Brand by Brand Finance for the fifth consecutive year.
For Ne-Yo fans, however, October 20 will simply be about one thing — seeing the R&B hitmaker live in Nairobi.
