The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has rejected Bolt’s application for a license renewal, which the company sought as its current one, issued in October 2022, is set to expire in 17 days.

The refusal is based on alleged infractions of transportation regulations, such as unauthorized commission charges and booking fees.

The decision follows a surge in complaints from drivers and their representatives, who have raised concerns about Bolt’s failure to adhere to regulatory requirements. In a letter addressed to Linda Ndungu, Bolt’s country manager, Cosmas Ngeso, the deputy director of NTSA, has asked for a corrective plan from Bolt to rectify these breaches.

NTSA further mandated that Bolt furnish details about their commission rates and cease the purportedly illegal practice of charging booking fees. NTSA maintains that it possesses evidence of Bolt’s violations and anticipates compliance before the current license expires on October 28.
