The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), in partnership with the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), will engage Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) to enhance tax compliance and promote sustainable business practices within this sector.
Specifically, KRA and KNCCI will:
- Conduct joint tax education programs, including setting up tax clinics nationwide where MSMEs can receive tax services directly at their premises. These initiatives are designed to equip MSMEs with the knowledge and assistance necessary to fulfill their tax obligations effectively.
- Collaborate on outreach programs to raise awareness about tax matters and address challenges faced by traders, with a focus on simplifying tax complexities for MSMEs.
- Work together to combat illicit trade and create a favourable business environment. KNCCI will continue efforts to inform its members about the risks associated with smuggling, contributing to the overall integrity of the business landscape.
- Support KNCCI members in understanding and adopting the Electronic Tax Invoice Management System (eTIMS), emphasizing the importance of technology in streamlining tax processes and improving compliance.
Through this partnership, KRA and KNCCI demonstrate a shared dedication to empowering MSMEs with the necessary resources, knowledge, and support to succeed in today’s business environment.
