WhatsApp is rolling out the ability to share voice notes in Status updates. Beta testers of WhatsApp’s latest 2.23.2.8 version have received the ability to share voice notes via Status updates.
Until now, users could only share text, links, photos and videos with their preferred contacts through the feature.
“The maximum recording time for a voice note is 30 seconds, and people need to update their version of WhatsApp in order to listen to voice notes shared via status,” added the post.
Similar to regular WhatsApp messages and other status updates, the voice notes shared will be end-to-end encrypted, meaning that only the people you choose within your privacy settings can listen to them. The feature is expected to roll out to more users over the coming weeks.
