Xbox has announced that its flagship initiative, Xbox Game Camp, is returning to Africa for the third year, continuing its mission to nurture and uplift game developers across the continent.

The 12-week programme, organised in partnership with ID@Xbox’s Developer Acceleration Program, will feature selected professional game studios from across Africa. Teams will take their projects from ideation to playable prototypes with guidance from experienced mentors at Team Xbox.

Since its inception, Xbox Game Camp Africa has introduced more than 1,900 creators to the industry. Among its success stories is Kenyan studio Kunta Content, whose debut game Hiru was born out of earlier camps. Their recently released trailer showcases the game’s diverse landscapes, inspired by African settings.

“We are beyond excited to finally share a glimpse of the world of Hiru,” said Dean Gichukie, CEO and Game Producer at Kunta Content. “This trailer is a testament to our team’s passion and the incredible support from Xbox, starting with Xbox Game Camp, allowing us to showcase the beauty of the Masai Mara, the mysteries of the Congo, and the starkness of the desert.”

The 2025 edition of Xbox Game Camp Africa will officially kick off on 4 December in Cape Town, South Africa, during Africa Games Week.
